Experiencing Open Heaven

From Breakthrough to Overflow

“I experienced heaven on earth,”  this is how one pastor put in a nutshell his thoughts on the Holy Spirit Breakthrough Part 2 Conference of the Jesus Is Lord Church that was conducted on 05 July 2008 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City, Philippines.

About 9,000 people from Metro Manila and Luzon trooped to the venue where they joined in passionate worship of God and enjoyed the exposition of truth by conference speakers about worship, its worth, and the LORD’s worthiness to be worshipped by His people.

JIL Director for National Operations Rev. Alex Garcia, as the first conference speaker, established the importance that all peoples worship His Majesty, the Holy One who is the LORD, and underscored the uniqueness of worship as a privilege yet, in its being a privilege, is made available to all by the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus who is the only Way to the Father.

None among the attendees were of dry eyes nor up on their feet after the powerful preaching of second conference speaker, JIL Chairperson for Church Development Network, Sis. Edith Mendoza.  As Sis. Edith expounded on the power of worship to usher in the LORD’s anointing, by the release of His Spirit, from breakthrough to overflow, spontaneous heart-wrenching cries of worship all over the arena echoed.

It was at this point when JIL Director for Central Operations, Rev. Joey Crisostomo, got up on stage and sustained the awesome worship flow.  Upon the promptings of the Holy Spirit, he particularly called on all the pastors to approach the altar of God in complete humility and total surrender.  Pastors who responded to the call later testified that it was one of their most intimate moments with God during the conference.  To them, it was a blessed opportunity to bow down before God just as they are ~ worshippers of the Redeemer King, above and beyond all the roles they assume and perform.

Special guest speaker, Intercessors for the Philippines Chairman Bishop Dan Balais, shared a powerful teaching on God’s sovereignty as the Mighty King of all and over all. He drew attention to the LORD’s clear mandate to all believers to be prime-movers in turning the kingdoms of this world into the Kingdom of the Living God.  “It is high time we put righteous people in places of authority,” he pointed out, explaining further that the Church is empowered by the Spirit of God to do so.

For her part, JIL Executive Director Rev. Dory Villanueva, shared the fresh revelation she received from the LORD about the blessing of “open heaven” for God’s faithful people. She also called attention to the Bible passages that spoke of dates and timeline that corresponded to the upcoming 30th anniversary of JIL.

The congregation, meanwhile, broke into deferential applause when Bishop Eddie C. Villanueva was introduced after a special MTV on JIL’s three decades of ministry was presented.  A heartwarming standing ovation was accorded to the man of God who, as Sis. Edith put it, “denied all claims to himself and chose to embrace the call of God for his life … reason that we are all here.  His obedience earned us our opportunity to hear the Gospel truth and find our salvation in Christ Jesus.”

Teary-eyed Bishop Eddie humbly responded to the congregation’s manifestation of love and gratitude by raising up both his hands in absolute surrender and worship of his ever Living God. “All glory and honor and thanks unto the LORD,” was all he could say in his quivering voice.

The Holy Spirit Breakthrough Conference was also highlighted by special presentations from the JAMVIA and dance ministers as well as MTVs and AVPs produced by the JIL Creative Arts Ministry.
