I often wondered, during my early years in the worship ministry, why church leaders describe the worship service with the word “flow.” It was unclear to me then since “flow” is a term that is only applicable to how liquid moves. After some time of digging deeper into the Word of God, however, He opened the eyes of my understanding to the revelation of His being. It was then when I saw how God expressed the move of His Spirit, whether individually or corporately, by using dynamic picture words such as water, streams, or rivers. It is amazing how “rivers of living water” can flow from out of us, especially when we are caught in the current of a spontaneous release of spiritual songs. It is termed “ODE PNEUMATIKOS” which refers to songs that are breathed into by the Spirit. Such God-birthed force compels us to be receptive to His breakthroughs in every, and all, area of our lives. Even more wonderful is its plural form, “rivers.” It speaks of great diversity of ways by which God touches His people and reveals to them His heart and mind. Thus it is not farfetched how, from the very dry wilderness of our lives, He can make rivers to flow in abundance! This is His kind of unstoppable breakthrough! If only we could just keep on following that river and be driven by its current, I believe that we shall find ourselves transformed into blessed carriers of His life, even as we draw our very life from His Spirit! More than that, we shall experience a hundredfold deepening of our love-relationship with the LORD as we relentlessly and passionately pursue Him. It is for this relentless and passionate pursuit of the One True God, from Whom all good things flow, that this website is conceived. It is my earnest prayer for every worship minister to find helpful resources, motivational insights, and an expanded vision of Christ, His Cross, and His Cause as we all together capture where we are now and see where He can take us, if we only follow the river. Join us in the continuing journey of the Jesus Is Lord Church to become a glorious church in the area of worship ministry. To be given a chance to serve and worship the King of kings is an awesome experience for me. I’ve been trying to understand His reasons and ways of granting such grand opportunity to people like us, but I find it really beyond my range. I may be an instrument with a very limited capability; but His grace is amazing, patient and constant. I can’t find a more appropriate response to that uncommon privilege but to submit my life for the pleasure and the glory of the Master, and to offer Him the kind of service that He deserves. I believe that how we serve Him as worship ministers is just as important as why we do it. If we truly and fully understand the reason behind our calling; our actions should not be revealing something contradictory. Psalm 40:3 says “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” The quality in which we express this "hymn of praise" musically should be at a level of excellence that brings glory and honor that's due our God. The quality in which we express this "hymn of praise" musically should be at a level of excellence that brings glory and honor that's due our God and such that the people who "put their trust in the Lord" are further encouraged to worship. The world that we are reaching out is familiar and exposed to progressive, cutting-edge, high quality art. A culture that is critical with its acceptance of what’s OK, “cool” and brilliant. I wonder how they (the Simon Cowells of this world) would perceive the God we worship if we do not value excellence in our worship music. The Word of God commands us to sing to Him a new song and playing skillfully (psalm 33:1). In 1st Chronicles 25, the Levites who were appointed by King David “for the music in the house of the Lord” were “instructed in the songs of the Lord” and are skillful (verse 6). Simple as it may sound, but we know that this journey is not an easy ride. It may begin with an honest evaluation of our abilities, a decision to go to the next level then moving on with hard work, discipline, and attention to detail; I believe we’ll get by with the rough roads along the way. Let that desire to glorify God with the best that we can offer, continue to burn in our hearts. Feel free to browse through these pages and let that zeal be fanned and fueled by resources and tools that will help us to be better as we keep on making His praise Glorious!
In Him, PAUL ARMESIN
