The Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church Worldwide founded by televangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva will celebrate its 36th year at the Luneta Park, Manila this Friday, with no less than President Aquino leading in a prayer for national consecration.
The celebration will start at 3PM on Friday and is expected to draw over 1-million attendees from Metro Manila and the nearby provinces.
This year’s theme is anchored on the theme of peace, which according to the JIL founder, is the call of the time amidst the negative news dominating the local and international media.
“Pursue Peace and Be Holy, Without Which No One Can See God. We find this as a very relevant theme for such a time as this. Every one of us must look inside our hearts and strive to pursue peace,” Villanueva said in a statement.
“Our pursuit for peace as a nation is best demonstrated with our own President leading us all in a prayer for consecration.”
The prayer to be led by the President, he said, is a symbolic act of humility as a nation.
According to Villanueva, the church should strive to make itself relevant in all areas of the society including the government.
Villanueva challenged all Christians to actively participate in pushing forward reforms in a peaceful manner especially on issues that have impact to the country’s future.
“The Church must be salt and light to the world and lead in achieving peace. But we cannot be salt and light if we do not actively take part in the affairs of our nation,” he said.
True peace, he said, cannot exist apart from the holiness that comes only from our Holy God.
“1 Timothy 2:1 said: First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,” Villanueva said.
The evangelist will be joined by faithful representing more than 50 nations of the world.
Meanwhile, organizers are appealing to motorists for understanding. With an expected crowd of more than a million, heavy traffic is expected with the vicinity of Luneta. JIL, however, assured the public strict measures will be implement to minimize traffic congestion. ##
