Third Life
We all hear testimonies of second chances. Of healing and of second life. But Noel’s story stands out; his is a story of a “third life.”
It started with recurring headaches he thought he could ignore. But as days passed, the pain became unbearable that he decided to consult a neurologist. The thought of seeing a neurologist was terrifying.
The doctor asked Noel to undergo an MRI scan, and results showed that he had brain tumor, and that there was no other option but to go through an operation. The fear of seeing a neurologist was valid and the thought of undergoing an operation shook all foundations of courage in him. Why not? All these he would go through for the second time!
His first operation was a blessing that he was very thankful for, but finding out that he had to go through another one was somehow disheartening. Would God give his life yet another chance?
What made it more heart-breaking was that Noel learned about the need for another operation on same day that the Lord delivered to him and his wife, Dairen, their first born. They have been married for more than a year, and it was supposed to be one of the happiest days in their life as a family. However, as Noel was looking at his baby, checking every detail of her sweet face, letting her grip his finger with her little hand, he could not help but feel sadness and fear in his heart. Would he be able to stay with her longer and watch her every step? Would God intervene and restore him into the strong man that his wife and baby need?
But beyond all fear and doubt, Noel with his family and loved ones chose to rely on God, believing that He has a plan and purpose for everything. They chose to hold on to the truth that He is our great Healer and the Author of life, and nothing is too hard for Him to do. He is a God of love and mercy, and He sees every pain and hardship that we are going through. Knowing that it was all for His glory, they all prayed for nothing but the Lord’s will to be done in Noel’s life.
And indeed, God is an answering and miracle-working God. With unrelenting prayers from his family, loved ones, and Pastor, Noel survived his second operation and is now restored to normal body conditions. Noel could not help but be amazed at how the Lord allowed him to enjoy his “third life.”
Everyday with his family, Noel is now free from all pain and symptoms of brain tumor. Each day then becomes a special chance to thank and bless God for all the things He’s done, and is still about to do in his and his family’s life.
