Jesus Helps Us Forgive

What else could badly break a mother’s heart than to see her children living in heartache? Sis. Anita Corpin went through this painful experience, waking up every morning wondering if time would ever come when the wounds of her children would heal, when their family would still be united.

Sis. Anita attends at the Jesus is Lord (JIL) Church Deparo, Novaliches, where she also serves as an intercessor. She is joining the celebration of the JIL Church Worldwide’s 41st Anniversary in Luneta today.

Looking back, God had a purpose for bringing her family in Novaliches in 1991. She was then worried that her children would soon suffer from depression if she would not take them along and leave their house. The house had been in turmoil daily since her husband had fallen into infidelity.

“Ayaw ko namang manatili sa magulong pamilya so nagdecide ako na pumunta kami sa Maynila, nakipagsapalaran ako para magtrabaho para mailayo ko ang mga anak ko sa kanya kasi magkakaroon sila ng depression” (I did not want to stay in a family in strife so I decided to leave for Manila, I took chances to have work in order for me to move my children away from my husband for them not to suffer depression),” Sis. Anita narrated.

Adjusting to a new environment and dealing with a broken heart, Sis. Anita needed some comfort. When a brethren from JIL Deparo invited her to a Bible Study, she obliged. She asked the brethren to pray for her family. And from then on, she loved and held on to the Word of God.

“Marami pong ginawa ang Lord sa buhay ko. Una sa lahat broken family kami, tinulungan Niya akong mapag-aral ko ang mga anak ko at makapaglingkod din sa Panginoon, (“The Lord had done so much for me. First of all, we are a broken family but He helped me so that I could send my children to school and I could serve Him in the ministry),” Sis. Anita said.

Sis. Anita continued to pray for her family. First, she dealt with her own pain and prayed that the Lord would help her forgive her husband. It was that forgiveness that paved the way for her to unite her children to her husband. The children likewise forgave their father. And before it was too late, Sis. Anita was able to share the Good News of the Gospel to her husband. She did this before he died from sickness.

Sis. Anita is grateful to God because He not only delivered her and her children from unforgiveness, but He also prepared a good future for her children.

“Alam ko na ang Diyos na pinaglilingkuran ko ay Diyos na nag aayos ng buhay talaga (I know that the God I serve is One who orders our lives for the better),” Sis. Anita concluded as she praised the name of the Lord.
