One in Christ, One in His Word

Waiting for God’s answers to our prayers could be really difficult to endure. But if we are one in Christ—if we understand His heart and His will—we can bear the waiting process. Bro. Mark and Sis. Johnlynn know this too well. They held on to the Person of Christ and, also, to His Word, despite the doctor’s pronouncement that they could not have children.

The couple, who are workers at the Jesus is Lord (JIL) Church in Alima, Cavite, never lost their faith in the Lord Jesus. Instead, the two strengthened their relationship with Him all the more.

“Sa una talaga mahirap. Pero ayun nga, Jesus is Lord. Kay God lang talaga kami humuhugot (At first, it was really difficult. But Jesus is Lord. It’s only from God where we turn to for strength),” Bro. Mark said. “Tsaka yung faith number 1 yun na wala ngang baog, na magkaka-baby kami. Kapag anak ka ni God, walang baog. (And also, faith is number 1, that no one is barren, that we would bear children. No one is barren among the children of God),” he added.

The couple continued to hold on to God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” and also to the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel.

“I earnestly prayed to God that I wanted a baby,” said Sis. Johnlynn.

They endured not only the pain of waiting for God’s answers, but also the pressure from the people around them. But they both depended solely on God.

“Yung process ng waiting kasi yun yung mahirap eh. Pero tinuruan kami ng Lord na ‘Be still and know that I am God. So while waiting sa Panginoon, nade-develop yung faith mo and then yung relationship mo sa Kanya (The process of waiting was the difficult one. But God taught us to ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ So while waiting on the Lord, you develop your faith and your relationship with Him),” explained Sis. Johnlynn.

They finally received the answer to their prayers in 2016. Sis. Johnlynn conceived and gave birth to a healthy baby girl, whom they named Adia Athalia. Following the example of Hannah and Samuel, the couple also prayed that their child would be used by God for His kingdom.

This 41st anniversary of the JIL Church Worldwide, God showed His faithfulness again. Sis. Johnlynn is seven weeks pregnant. God is able to do it again; Jesus is Lord, indeed!
