JIL42

By Bong Pedralvez

The Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) led by Bishop Leo Alconga honored the Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church Worldwide and its Founder and Spiritual Director, Bro. Eddie C. Villanueva, for overcoming adversities. The commendations were given during the celebration of JIL’s 42nd founding year.

“On behalf of PJM, I thank our great God for the celebration of JIL’s 42nd anniversary and for Bro. Eddie’s faithfulness to God during these challenging and unprecedented times,” Bishop Alconga said.

Aside from holding the anniversary amid a pandemic, this was the first anniversary JIL Church Worldwide celebrated without Sis. Dory Villanueva and Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna. The two JIL Church Worldwide pillars passed away successively early this year.

“Bro. Eddie, praise God for you remain unshakeable amid the indescribable challenges you and the JIL family faced,” noted Bishop Alconga.

Bishop Alconga and the PJM Board presented two separate commendations to the JIL Church Worldwide and to Bro. Eddie, respectively.

Aside from Bishop Alconga, those present to witness the turnover of the commendations were PJM board members and pastors.

The citations were written in calligraphy by Bishop Alconga’s daughter, Joanna, and were especially framed as fit for the occasion.

The first citation for the JIL Church Worldwide quoted Philippians 2:9-11:

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The other citation, the one for Bro. Eddie, quoted Romans 10:9:

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Sen. Joel Villanueva, Ptr. Jovi Villanueva-Binalla, and Bro. Eddie received the commendations.
