I Meant Every Word

Teachings for Couples

I Meant Every Word

MEMORY VERSE:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

INTRODUCTION
He knew all the joys and unspeakable sufferings He would go through and
yet He did what He did, went through what He went through and continues to go
through everything for all of us. He promised Himself to us and He fulfilled His
promise because He meant every word. He continues to speak His love to us
AND He means every word.

I. Love promises.
o Love is not only full but overflowing.
o Because love overflows, it can’t help but make promises.
II. Love measures the cost of its promise.
o Love sees the difficulties and joys that will result from its promise.
o Love counts the cost and finds it worth everything.
III. Love delivers the promise.
o Love delivers its promise because delivering the promise brings joy to the
beloved.
o Love delivers its promise because delivering the promise itself is joy.
CONCLUSION
Marriage vows were made because of love that overflowed. The love was
so much that it had to make a promise even though it knew what such a promise
would entail, because delivering it is a joy. God keeps saying His “I love you” to
us and He has meant every word. We say our love to our loved ones and time
has proven that we, too, have meant every word.
